Jay-Zs 24 Hour Concert Extravaganza
Rapper Jay-Z has celebrated his musical comeback with seven concerts across the US in 24 hours.
The 36-year-old hip-hop star performed the series of 30-minute concerts in Atlanta, Philadelphia, Washington, New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles before finishing his whistle-stop tour in Las Vegas yesterday morning (19.11.06).
Jay-Z - real name Shawn Carter - used a private jet to fly to each city, where he played to thousands of fans in a variety of venues including clubs, a pier and Washington's Howard University.
The rapper's girlfriend Beyoncé Knowles joined him at the Los Angeles show. Dressed in a black babydoll dress and stilettos, she and her former Destiny's Child bandmate Michelle Williams danced by the stage and sang along to his hit 'Diamonds in the Air'.
Jay-Z, who announced he was retiring from music in 2004, recently recorded a new album.
However, his comeback has run into trouble. The Chinese government banned him from performing in the country because his music contains too many "profane references".
His new album 'Kingdom Come' will be released tomorrow (21.11.06).
